Everyone has different goals, and I’m sure that there are lots of people out there whose main goal isn’t to lose weight yet to gain some.

Believe it or not, there are some people who are struggling to put on some weight no matter how much they eat or how unhealthy the food they eat is.

On the other hand, there are people who are trying to gain the lean weight and maintain and build muscle size without getting any excess fat.

There have always been questions such as do protein bars help you gain weight?

The good news is that protein bars are good for both losing and gaining weight, and that’s what I love the most about them!

In this post, you will find out everything about protein bars composition, the way they can be used to gain weight, but also which protein bars you should look out for in order to gain weight.

How Can Protein Bars Help You Gain Weight?

Choosing protein bars

Each protein bar has its number of calories. In case you didn’t know, calorie contains protein, fat, and carbohydrates.

When you sum up three of these, you get the calorie number.

Now, there are different protein bars, and I like to always categorize them. For gaining weight, you’d want to buy and eat protein bars which have a high number of calories.

To make the most out of protein bars and let them help you gain weight, I’d always recommend you to first know how many calories your body needs to maintain your weight.

Once you know the number, you can add up to 500 calories on top of that number and follow such diet on a regular basis.

That’s where protein bars help. They can help you digest additional 300-500 calories per bar, and the best thing about protein bars is they’re healthy!

You can eat two of them per day, which would help you get anywhere between 600-1000 calories a day, yet you will also digest a good amount of pure protein and carbs with a very low amount of sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Therefore, being in a caloric surplus is a very easy thing now when you can help yourself with one of the pure protein bars. They’re the best choice to gain weight in a healthy way.

Is it Healthy to Gain Weight With the Help of Protein Bars?

Once I share my knowledge with the people who are trying to gain weight and explain them the benefits of gaining weight with protein bars, the next question is whether gaining weight eating protein bars is even healthy.

People are used to eating loads of meat for protein and other foods for carbs as the main plan for gaining weight.

However, not many people know that protein bars can be a healthy addition to help you gain weight.

They consist of pure protein, good amount of carbs, pretty decent number of calories, and yet they have the very low amount of sugar and have no artificial sweeteners at all. Oh, did I also mention how good some protein bars can taste? It’s unreal and it’s a win-win situation no matter what you think.

So yes, gaining weight with the help of protein bars is healthy as long as you keep your diet in check and you still don’t rely on protein bars as your main food source.

Alright. You don’t have to freak out immediately and think that protein bars make people fat. It’s definitely not true, even though they can help people gain some lean weight in a healthy and natural way.

In case you don’t want to gain weight eating protein bars, you should definitely pay attention to which protein bars you eat.

Just the way there are high-calorie protein bars, there are also protein bars which are very low in calories and they’re perfect for someone who’s trying to lose weight.

Such protein bars help people still get the right amount of protein, carbs, and necessary fat for their day, without eating unhealthy fat, or without eating sugar and artificially sweetened products.

Also, if you’re trying to lose weight, like me, I’d recommend you to maybe stick to one protein per day, or even one protein bar every other day. It’s something that worked very well for me, and I used protein bars on days where I couldn’t reach the necessary amount of protein for the day.

As I said before, what I love about protein bars the most is their versatility. They’re good for both gaining and losing weight, but you just have to pay attention to the ones you eat.

From my experience and from what I have seen so far, the protein bars work the best for people who are having a flexible diet.

Flexible diet means that 85% of what you eat on a daily basis is healthy, with 15% of food that can be a treat or of another source which might not be as healthy.
